Growing Cities

A feature length documentary about American urban agriculture I shot & produced with my friend and Director Dan Susman, released in 2013. A road trip doc and social call to action,
the film explores how everyday people are using food as a tool to rebuild their communities, improve their personal health, and so much more. The film reimagines what’s possible in cities and challenges viewers to think differently about where their food comes from. It has screened nationally on PBS and at film festivals and community events around the world.

Theatrical Trailer

Urban Bee Resuce

The Backwards Beekeepers of Los Angeles do a tough but hugely important job of relocating beehives instead of destroying them. We were lucky to join them on a mission to save bees and honey.

The Free Farm

Filmed in 2011. In the heart of San Francisco, The Free Farm was a beacon of hope and community. People from all walks of life volunteered their time to grow food together and then gave it away for free at the Free Farm Stand...no money involved whatsoever. It was a really amazing way to help feed people who needed it most. Sadly, like many SF urban farms, this Tenderloin gem no longer exists.

Karen Washington Outtake

Karen is an amazing farmer and community organizer from the Bronx who transformed a vacant lot full of trash into an oasis she named The Garden of Happiness. Not only was she incredibly inspiring, wonderful to meet and work with, she gave us an outstanding interview. During which she was paid a visit from the garden’s cat Compost, hilariously interrupting a rather serious discussion.

Portlandia Film Fest Parody

We were inspired to have some fun announcing the film’s world premiere at the 2013 Portland Film Festival.

Danny McGuire Kickstarter Promo

We were also inspired to have some fun begging for money on Kickstarter. This spoof of Jerry McGuire featured a truly breathtaking comedic cameo by my dear father Bernard.
